Paul Oakenfold - A Lively Mind

this is something to blast when friends are over and you just want mindless beats, almost completely ignoring the music in the background.
a couple of songs are very catchy and fun but overall its very lackluster. a few standout tracks and alot of filler. among the best:

Amsterdam (best of the lot)
Sex N' Money (catchy as hell)
Faster Kill Pussycat (vocals are quite delecious)
Set It Off (grandmaster flash...nuff said)
Not Over (excellent trancer)
Vulnerable (eerie melody)

so thats exactly half the tracks. 5.5/10. save your money, Bunkka was much better.

I wont bother critisizing the shit tracks. they speak for themselves.

This Paul Oakenfold album reminds me a lot of this rock group called Monster Magnet. They were fucking awful, but every now and then you need to just put on some shit rock and blast it out just so you can realize how good everything else is. It's all about rage and contrast my good man, rage and contrast.

hehe pretty much. but the tracks I mentioned are quite good, which means he had the potential to make a solid album. oh well, at least hes back on track with his Djing. shame he cant juggle both the DJing and producing.

Save the last trance for me is quite epic and does a good job on the dancefloor but I would never listen to it more than once. The rest well.....

i do like a number of the songs in particular, faster kill pussycat and my fave is ssave the last trance for me...but every song is ripped of another song...which is a shame. where does "Save the last trance for me" come from?

Its pretty much an exact copy with some minor tweaks and a more trancey edge to it
