I have bought some alesis monitor one's recently, but found that my old monitors, whick look like shit, I produce better on. Why is this? Well because I know my monitors. Look at this...

If I know those peaks and troughs, why spend more than $500 on supermonitors when I can just know where my monitors lack and where they emphasize and just adjust accordingly?

You'll never regret this purchase.

Hearing the nuainces in your sound and being able to accurately work with the low-end is a dream come true... but of course, in the long run, you want this to produce your tracks more efficiently, but you'll still need to play your song on as many varying systems as you can, both low and high quality.

Trust me, just keep using your new monitors, it will take a week or so to get used to them, and then...you start loving them.

At first I was depressed with my new monitors, I thought I had made a mistake. But after a week, I was more than happy. It turned out to be the best thing I ever bought.

knowing your speaker is a huge part of it, however you cannot compensate for what you cannot hear. So better is indeed, better.

But sound is subjective, so you should test some monitors out at your music store

I have made a list of pro producers and the monitors they use. Surprisingly a lot of big names have behringers or alesis. Armin uses Mackie HR824, which is said to be the best for EDM purposes, but it costs a lot.

Dynaudio bm5a I think is the best price/quality. I a/b compared them with the Mackie HR824, and there was a major difference.

1 fact about monitors, like is said here a lot on TA, go listen for yourself.

Strange thing though.. I met someone who had bought 8 speakers for music production, and the speakers where for a local supermarket. But the sound was seriously good.

I took more then 1 year finding monitors on the internet. Then 1 year listen to al kind of monitors. The Dynaudio bm5a work out for me.

You’ll be happy with your monitors, but not happy knowing there is something better.

yap, a 1000 euros.. but I’ve saved al lot for it without regrets. First I had those Behringer truths, and not very happy about them. I sold those and I wanne to go for the ESI Near 5, witch are actually very good.

I was going to go with Event TR-6s but now I dont know. The general consensus is that everything in this price range is a compromise of sorts and I find Event extremely difficult to contact. I hear their customer support is pretty bad too.

The Dynaudio BM5as are supposed to be really good although I havent demoed them personally. However, in my opinion, if you are going to shell out 700 quid on a pair of monitors you may as well save the extra 150 and look into a pair of ADAM P11As - which I have heard. I must say that changed the criteria for me because they sound really different to the TR-6s. Which is odd. Those are the monitors I am leaning towards right now but a pair will cost me about 6 weeks wages...GAH.

Also, The ADAM A7s look really really good for the money - almost half the price of the P11As and you still get the ART tweeter. But I am finding this monitor impossible to find in the UK/Ireland.
