I think something along this line was mentioned in another thread but i am gonna ask n e ways..... i dont see how you could affectively use a .02 pitch resolution because the pitch slider is not long enough

like even if you have it on +/- 4%, and say the pitch slider is 10 cm long, to move it only .02% you would have to move the pitch slider down 0.25mm (if my math is correct) which is basically impossible seeing that it would be extremely hard to move it down such a slight ammount... so can someone explain to me why it is important to have such a high pitch resolution....as opposed to having like .1% resolution, like obviously .02% is better but is it really useful when you cant move teh pitch slider that precisely, or is there something i dont understand?

what decks are you using?

yeah thats the thing i dont have decks yet but i am looking to buy some so i am trying to figure out how much the whole pitch resolution thing actually matters.... cuz i wanna get the denon s1000's but everyone on here complains that you should have a better pitch resolution....

and is it something i dont understand or are u just being a dick? if it is something then please explain

ok on cd players everything is digital, so it is digitaly slowing the song down. it doesn't matter how long your fader is acctuly dont even worry about that. a .02 pitch is the best you can get on cd player. on a pioneer a +/- 6% is a .02 and a +/-10 pitch is .05. both work well but with the .02 you dont have to worry about keeping them beatmatched as it takes longer for them to come off so you have more time to do things with your set.

what he said...im glad someone put it better than i would but basically the actual measure of the pitch slider doesnt matter its your pitch range that matters...i wasnt trying to come off as a dick...but .02 is the best resolution your going to find especially on pio's...i recommend the CDJ-200's for your first decks, even people with higher end cdj's are ordering some (including myself)...and pitch range is definately important for beat matching.

so like say you have a song that plays at 133.45 bpm, and you are matching it with a new track..... so the closer you get to 133.45, the longer the tunes will stay beatmatched and the longer your mix will hold.... so is it easier to get it closer to 133.45 if you have the 0.02% pitch resolution???? it obviosly sounds like it would be true but i am just saying would it be really hard to make an adjustment that exact.... forgive my lack of knowlege, i am a noob, i just wanna make the most informed decision when i am spending $1000+ cd decks....

btw i can get a really good deal on denon equipment ($450 for 2 cd players, mixer and heaphones all new) so thats why i am leaning towards those instead of the cdj200, i am just wondering how much of a "problem" the whole .1 pitch resolution would be

the job of a dj is to make sure the transition between 2 songs is as seamless as possible...this said, you should be asking yourself if denons over all you need for what you feel would be good for mixing. if your a noob then you should be looking at the basics, 3500's as opposed to cdj-200's for example...if you need the vinyl than i say go for it...if price is a problem then maybe you should look at other options because people spend upwards of $1500 on their first setup...this is an expensive hobby. .02 is perfect for beatmatching but like you implied in your other post its not necessarily gonna be perfect every time which is why people end up riding the pitch etc etc...there are ways to get around bad pitch resolutions but this is an important variable when considering mixing trance/house music...its your choicse dude

the display shows the pitch you're at all the time, so you don't have to worry about the small distance, because you can get it precisely to let's say +1,02% with the aid of the display.
and if i would be buying cd-players now i'd definitely go for 0,02% resolution, no less. so i'd recommend the cdj-200s or maybe even the denon dn-s3500 if you want to spend a bit more.

I think .02% pitch resolution is just right. If you can beatmatch that well (and I usually get around +/- .04% accuracy with one ear on/off monitoring latetly), that's good enough and the beats will lock nicely.

But he IS right. There are lots of people on the forums who have said that "1200's are so much more accuracy because they use an analog pitch slider that doesn't have increments". But I defy them to move a 1200 pitch slider at greater than .02% increments at +/- 8%. Are they going to blow on the pitch slider to get it to move infinitely small amounts? :lol:

i can keep my mixes in very well with .05 resolution no problem plus another thing is try to keep bpm's close as that is a factor that can help make less times making corrections! is that true?

or am i just confusing myself with having better pitch resolutions so you can make more fine adjustments.
