wondering what you guys know about the rumored
touch screen ipod.

figured i'd ask here since you guys are more "techy"

It's been delayed, unfortunately. The widescreen version of the iPod with video support is the next generation for the iPod family. Due to the new technology with the touchscreen wheel and whatnot, Apple was having some complications with the display and negotiations with movie studios (iTunes vs. MusicNet subscription). The release was supposed to coincide with the 30th birthday of the company but it looks like it's being pushed back. We might see a release as early as next month, though.

And for their 50th birthday they'll be releasing an iPod that integrates directly with your brain. It allows you to download songs from iTunes by just thinking about it, and Apple's takes payment by utilising some of your unused brain capacity.

They can and have. Those are called mockups. It's already well known that the next generation iPod is a widescreen with video support.
