Anyone use Ableton to mix? It has a lot of potential I think

I've been messing around with Ableton recently and I'm actually having a hard time with it. It doesn't seem to get the songs matched very well no matter how hard I try to Auto-Warp it. Anyone use it to mix? I feel like if I could get it to beatmatch better than I could really use a lot of the built in effects to cause some serious sonic damage

Lets hear it.

Don't autp-warp your tracks.

Nemesis started a thread not too long ago about that...look further down and you might find some good ideas.

Use auto-warp, it does work perfectly, then just move the first marker onto the first beat, it never finds the first beat properly. Once that's done, go to the end of the track and seei f the markers are still on the beat, if no, grab the beat marker and drag it on, then click save and your song is done.

Yeah later that night after I posted this I went to the Ableton forums and did some serious research. Getting a perfect warp is really not that hard and when you have them, the software really comes into it's own. I love it so far.

I use Jahnlay's method. It takes about 20-30 seconds maybe.

Could you post a link to the method or summarize the method? I think I'm using Chris Cowie's method right now and it works really well. However he is right, some songs are just fucking hard to warp correctly. I think I might just use those songs for samples when I find them. Pull the good parts out and not worry about the complicated warp. Just warp the small stuff

I think it is basically the same method. You need the BPM of the track. Let Ableton autowarp the music. Then enter the BPM. Set the first marker then check near the end and set the marker on the last beat. It should be fine from there but it is best to play with it a bit to make sure.

I've never tried that. I just set warp markers every 32 to 64 beats. When you layer the tracks over each other, do they keep their beat?

Thanks for the heads up.
