Is it just me or is "electro" tech house slowly dying?

I'm hearing less and less fart-synthed tracks being played out. I'm also hearing less and less prominence from "The Swedish House Mafia" and overly stagnant sets that go nowhere with each track sounding like one long battle with the small intestine.

Could the tech "electro" clash house fad be fading out?

Say it's so, please say it's so.

I can tell I'll probably get flamed a bit as well, but maybe I haven't gotten my hopes up for naught.

I don't know why anybody would have a good reason to flame you to be honest. Even if you were a fan of the tech-house rise, as I was, you have to admit that the music needs to keep evolving and when the leechers of a certain trend cover the body of what once was something exciting, then I would have to say its time to dispose of the body and bring along the next one. Ha really liking that metaphor.

It's slowly melding into the minimal-tech camps, methinks.

And doing a rather shit job at that, the proof being Angello & Ingrosso's Click.

I doubt highly whether it will ever truly die out entirely, and I don't mind hearing the occasional farty track at peaktime. But with any luck the entire sets made out of them have lost all novelty they once had.

Now if only epic trance could get its head out of its ass.

Agreed. It was starting to become the new progressive house -a house I am not in to. Luckily it wasn't meant to be. I hope the days of John Creamer & Stephane K, Lemon8, and Subsky type of prog. house return!

if you're not seeing the electro it's either because you've got your eyes closed, or your looking on places like this, which last time I checked was TRANCEaddict.. not houseaddict

keep in mind though, that electro doesn't begin and end with the farting bassline sound and that sound has a certain shelf life. I've heard some of the best electro tracks ever during the last couple months.. a lot of it blurs the lines between tech/electro/progressive. And yes it has taken a good foothold as "the new progressive" for many. due to how much progressive element is in a lot of it. Guys like Dave Seaman playing it goes to show that.

Lol, the farting bassline is more tech-house than electro. True electro sounds more like this: link

Why is it so many old members are saying "this is TRANCEaddict not houseaddict"? I mean can you not tell how variant the tastes are on this board? Honestly, having been here since 2001 you'd think it'd be almost palpable and fairly easy to spot. House, minimal, techno, and all other sorts of genres in electronic music are continually discussed in MD on an exceedingly consistent basis. It just baffles me.

Anyways, yes, I think the music I personally typify as "electro" clash tech house is starting to fade onto the backburner. I know there are a multitude of opinions from various people who define the genre I so duly portrayed as something entirely different, or at least slightly different. But I think most people are getting the general gist of what I'm saying.

Basically, the shit in A&I's 2005 Essential Mix. I find that people are growing ever more disinterested in it. As they should have done after about six months of its popularized inception.
