Transcendental Paradigm - Crimson ( Opening Sample)192

hey all,

It's been a long while but I finally have a new track in the works.

Here is a clip of the intro with basic percussion bassline and a few pads, and the beginnings of the lead. No melody yet, and alot of the levels havent been set, its still very early in production obviously, just wanted to get a few opinions. Thanks.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pag...m?bandID=524431 and the song is called Crimson.

not a bad intro. you can hear your improvement from your previous stuff.

my analysis is this:

-kick is too weak
-bass is not sitting well in the mix
-too much reverb, the mix feels as if it is falling on top of itself, check your levels
- you have nice efx going on
-listening back i think its a pad you have from the beginning what has overwhelming volume and reverb.

it may be... there is a pad which is basically a constant one note bar, kinda a deep bassey string pad.. i havent gotten around to fooling with those yet

im in the process of writing some other pads to go in its place..

the main thing I think I finally improved upon is percussion

It's alright but everything kind of sounds overused. sounds are all to familiar from other songs

I think the bassline fits fine, but I was expecting a bigger intro to the bass since it seems more like just a top bass and there isn't any sub to it. I just needs more to it. Sounds empty. Your percussion is definitely much better than previous works. The bass pad is nice. Not many new instruments being introduced. Really chilled laid back atmosphere, but it's not evolving and I think that is key to a great track. Something should always be going on and now the bass pad is getting a little boring. I know it's not a finished production or anything, but just add a lot more to it to keep an evolving atmosphere and keep the listening in a trance Good work and keep it up.
