Israelis please respond

Im planning a trip to Israel mid sep for 2 weeks (im an aus citizen)

If things dont improve, as in the war, would it be worth coming. We see all the havoc the war is creating but is that *really* making any real difference in areas like the old city and Telaviv?? I guess, have the habbits of the normal populus changed?? Are the bars still attracting people?
General media, imho, blows everything out of proportion.
Weve seen pictures of jews living in bomb shelters but that couldnt possibly be the norm, rather the exception.

Please dont turn this thread into a political slanging match..

Cheers

Eh, you really should have titled this thread "Israelis please respond" but..

No the situation provided it escalates is not that bad. Plus, if you can tolerate the risk I'm sure everything will be cheaper in the toursty areas (except for the south, because all the North has held and filled up the hotels in the south)...

He meant to say all the citizens of northern Israel have fled the north, and are staying in the hotels of Central Israel. So it might not be easy finding a room for the night.

It's usually not a good idea to fly out to a country while it's in the midst of a war - you'll miss out on some of the best parts of Israel (just like you'd be missing out on some of the best places in Lebanon). While people would be friendly to you as a tourist, they're probably also going to be more tense then if you were to come at a different, more peaceful time.

If your heart is set on going to Israel this September then don't make any changes to your plans just yet, and hope for the best. just remember though, thhat you will be visiting the country during extraordinary circumstances.

Yeah you might end up in a bomb shelter too, finding yourself writing blogs over internet on your daily stuggles for getting out of Israel.

The economy and tourism has sort of Plummeted on the region ( both Lebanon and Israel, more Lebanon though ).. not a good idea to go to Israel if you ask me, Hezbullah has some long range rockets, they were testing some.. mmm na dont go. ( I know Israelis will tell you is safe as heck, while bombs are going off ) .. My Israeli friends always tell me that while car bombs were exploding week after week ( that was during that period when bombs were going off everywhere ).. lots of pride there!
