You might want to look into Serato Scratch Live. It allwos you to control songs that are stored on your pc with your exiting turntables and mixer. I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for though. With Ableton, you would need a midi device. Some mixers have midi capabilities, but I am not sure how much.

Ummmmm, So If I wanted to use ableton to play tracks and incorporate live effects, I would need a second mixer to use between the tables and computer, would I then just be using the main mixer for tts/cdjs? So Would that also mean I need a seperate external sound card as well? Does a simple midi mixer/soundcare thingy exist? Who would sell that? M-Audio? What If I got the Nuo 4 with a midi output? How would that change things. PLease help me! It is destroying my sanity.

Try this man
Equipemt list
1. Laptop
2. Audio Interface (MOTU Travller for this)
3. DJ mixe4 and Turntbales
When you have an Audio Interface with a number of In's and Out's, you can be very creative with your set up.
In Ableton, open the I/O view and you can assign tracks. Lets say, you want to use two tracks integrated with your two turntbales.
Use 1/4 to RCA cables (Travller to DJ Mixer) . Doing this hardware set up allows you to have hands control on the DJ mixer.
Now lets assume your Dj mixer has four channels. Two for Ableton and the other two for Turntables..
Think of the DJ Mixer as a central hube for digital and analog technology.
( I use this set up every day, minus the turntables. I use a Traveller and every sound from Ableton goes out of my DJ mixer..)
Lert me know if this helps

Wait wait wait. does the computer hook up to my Nuo 4 via RCA cables like the tts? Does the Nuo 4 hook directly to the computer? How? do I need an external sound card and a UC33e? On Eclers site they say it hooks up through USB. So would my connection circle be: tt1-tt2-comp--nuo 4-external soundcard?-UC33e?

So the Traveller hooks up throuh fw. Is that also an external sound card? Would I need one? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I am so confused. So could I go: main mixer-tt1-tt2-cdj1-comp-traveller?-external soundcard?

Hey man,
I feel this is the best way to have hands on control in Ableton Live.
I used turntables and CD dekcs for six years, but once I discovered Ableton.. i totally forgot about that.
Yes, the Traveller is is freakin awesume for doing this type of thing.
I use a trigger finger and an O2. I have invested alot in cables, but a set up like I am using is ideal for a hands on DJ feel.
I control the master EQ and volume, and mixing with Ableton. Use my Trigger finger to triger clips and tracks, also control my send parameters. My 02 for playing my own basslines and other cool shit.
