I've been a member of several other forums in the past that have had a critical system crash and lost ALL their forum data.

So Before it happens here I was just wondering what precautions are in place to prevent such an event causing the loss of the forums here.

yes. There have been instances where a backup was used, its updated daily as far as i remember

Yes it is. I believe it is daily, but can't confirm that.

I heard the same in the past, hard drive backups and stuff.

In times past whenever we have had issues we have only lost at the most 24 hours of postings.
