Hey..Need info for driving..

Hey guys,

I'm from Qc city and well i might hit the road to Detroit this weekend. I just wanted to know how far is Detroit from Toronto..I did a mapquest and it tells me to get through the USA by Sarnia...is it the fastest way??

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it

Detroit is 4 hours away from Toronto...supposedly. I live in Windsor (across the border from Detroit) and I make quite frequent trips to Toronto...it usually takes me about 3 and a half hours.

Edit:
Try using this website http://maptuit.ca/ , it gives you a number of routes and orders them from fastest to longest.

they usually let you slide if you are driving 110-115km/h... sometimes 120km/h

but that all depends on the officer. some are pricks and will pull you over if you are doing 110.

the best thing to do is just follow the flow of traffic.

I tend to drive pretty fast....about 140 km/hr.

The speed limit on the 401 is 100km/hr. If you're driving at about 120km/hr, cops don't really care. Throw in a few spurts of 130 or 140 if you wish.

It's honestly up to you, what you feel safe with etc. Do keep an eye out for cops. They have undercover cops, cops on motercycles and speed traps.

In all my times driving on the 401 - it's quite a lot! - I've never been pulled over by a cop. Just be safe and keep an eye out.

Also, be aware that there's a fair bit of construction on the 401 right now about 20 km or so out of Windsor, so the traffic slows for awhile...but it still doesn't put too much of a damper on the time.

If you're coming from Quebec I can see that as being right. I've been to Quebec, coming from Windsor a number of times and the estimated driving time was about 12-13 hours.
