Feedback Problem

I have been hearing a loud, deep buzzing noise when I turn my monitors up to a significant level while using vinyl. To the best of my knowledge, this is feedback that I'm hearing (let me explain).
I think that the stylus is picking up the vibrations from the speakers (which are pointed directly at my TTs) as well as those from the groove of the record, which is resulting in feedback. It stops if I either turn my monitors down, or use a CDJ. Now turning my monitors down is all well and good (and the easiest solution) but say I want them loud, or I am playing at a friends house or something like that. I don't want to run into this feedback while performing, so anyone have any suggestions to keep this feedback from becoming a problem? thanks

Hey man,

Here are somethings you can try...

1. move your speakers farther away from your tables. It could be, like when you hold the pickups of a guitar up to an amp its hooked into, you get feedback. (gain before feedback)
2. Get a passive DI box and put it in the signal flow between your mixer out and your amp. A good DI box will clean up the signal and give you the option of a ground lift.
3. Make sure your tables are grounded.
4. It could be that something inside your mixer, tables or amp is not grounded properly, in which case your going to be hard pressed to find the problem.

Hope this helps.

Do you get the feedback even when the stylus is just resting and not on the record?
What turntables are you using?

Im using Numark TT500s. I don't think I get feedback from the needle when it is just resting, although it is hard to tell because I have to have my speakers up quite loud to get any feedback which makes listening to details on my earphones on the cued channel a little difficult.
I'm going to try moving my decks from the speakers a bit first. It seems to be the simplist of the potential solutions. I'll get back to y'all once I try it.

If its only when its on the record then it definitly is from bass feedback.
Try putting some foam under your TTs. Ulso try direct the speakers away from them as you have already suggested.
Maybe your table isnt very sturdy either.

Ok, sounds good. I'll pick up some foam next time I'm out. I know for a fact that my table isnt all that sturdy, although I don't have any other options at this moment. Thanks for the help.
