Laptop Question

Im looking to get rid of my desktop PC and replace it with a Laptop. Im looking for advice on what the key points in buying a laptop solely for producing would be ??

Like i want as little lag as possible so the CPU does not overload.

Get yourself a Core 2 Duo processor, its got 667Mhz FSB & 4 MB L2 Cache, if you can afford a 2.0ghz+ processor then get that..

Minimum 1 GB of ram, preferably a 7200 rpm hard disk & of course you would need a good external soundcard too..This is the bare minimum you need for audio the rest of the specs are up to you..

Take a look at Dell they've got reasonable prices..

Hmmm well i would suggest getting yourself a professional soundcard instead of those creative one's..What's the maximum you're willing to spend on a soundcard, i can recommend one accordingly..

Well, if money isnt too much of an object!

Frost ACM-D50 - Core™

Intel®945 Chipset
Intel®Core™ Duo T2500 Processor (2x2 GHz)
Ati X1600 Graphics engine
17" Widescreen 1920x1200 monitor
External monitor output - DVI
2.0 GB PC667 DDR2 RAM
DVD Recorder +/-
100 Gb SATA NCQ HD 7200 RPM

1x Ti Firewire - Chipsync technology
4x USB 2.0
Gigabit (1000 Mbit) Network
PCI-express slot
Windows XP Pro - Multilanguage and audio configured
Recover Pro MFG - undo viruses and mistakes

Then i would recomend a external soundcard, like 'Focusrite-Saffire'

Cheers

just dont get the creative.
for same money or less you can get a echo indigo, which is a far more professional brand. I have it for my lap and its rock solid. takes like 3 audio apps at once, the drivers rock too!
there a driver that lets me uses the 2 cards, the indigo and onboard at same time..its called asio4all. this way i can use a guitar processor on the onboard (guitar rig) and still have 4 mono outputs from the indigo, everything on Live . Its amazing setup for jamming or live sets.... real live!!
