Gabber kick

Ive been searching the forums a couple times now with no good results.

I know gabber isnt the kind of style you guys like but i bet theres someguy who likes it and know how to make that gabber kick, im close to getting where i want with the kicks i can make but its still not...right...

I make them with using the fm synthesis funktion im soundforge and there was a tutorial on how to make a regular trance d/t/p kick, the gabber kick has a longer release and LOTS more dist and compression.

Ill post a sample asap, but i want your ideas and listen to the sounds youve got.

Help and no flaming is greatly apreciated.

I always used to use a straight 909 kick, whack the low eq up, and distort it by overdriving the channel with the gain. Then add some compression to taste.

Square wavs for kicks? :S That might be your problem right there, you should use sines.

Yeah, try distorting it. Distortion makes a sine to become more and more like a square, that's why the squares sounds more like gabber kicks. But if using squares you won't get that tail. So, sines with distortion should do it.

I don't know really, I never tried gabber kicks, but I now the sound and that's just what it sounds like. Also, try a different dist-VST. Most dists are not made for kicks, so try different ones ands see which sounds best.

Go to the mod archive here http://www.modarchive.com/waveworld/drums.shtml

Get the Tr-909 pack, pick a kick with a long tail, do what freak said.

You'll end up having to cut the tail anyway surely?

I dont really cut the tail thats something i solve inside fruity loops. Envelope and such.

gabber is a dutch word which stands for friend.

this is pretty much the real thing

it`s sampled from a song i don`t know.

use it, tweak it, don`t abuse it

I never knew that's what gabber meant! I used to always listen to it, now I just play the odd track for a laugh/nostalgia
