Question Sunny Lax - Mira (Breakdown Pads)

First, Hello to everyone! I'm not new to TA but I've finally registered and I'm here to say hello to everyone, and also here to ask a simple question in the production forum with all of you producers who are familiar to what you're doing - I'm Jordan by the way, nice to meet you all! Anyway, I thought about using one of the high's on an EQ by automating my pads with it, but I'm still not still too sure of how this song builds up from a normal pad and then into powerful, airy, high-pitched pads. If anyone can hopefully post a little tutorial or explain in a simple way on how to do what Sunny did on that pad breakdown in Mira, I will greatly be appreaciated!

Here is a link of a sample I quickly made of the pads building up on the breakdown:

As you can hear very clearly, the pads build up slowly and then become airy and epic, as if you were to increase your high frequencies somewhat high enough to make a pad sound high as this. Again, if anyone has any idea on how to do this, please do not hesitate and feel free to post your knowledge!

Thanks a lot! Regards,
~Jordan

i sent the post over at T.nu for you midnight.

that's really easy actually...it just sounds like the filter cutoff on the pads is being automated to become fully open. That is what gives the big high frequencies because when the filter isn't open all the way, it is cutting out all frequencies above that cutoff.

Thanks for the reply buddy, I appreaciate it! And thanks for the reply on T.nu also, I had to post here as well just to get more information since TA has people browsing continously.

Thanks again man, I'm awaiting a few more posts from other people to see what they can input on this.

*EDIT:* By the way, do you have any idea what kind of pad that is?

sounds like a square/saw pad. Maybe a sine on top of it to give it the hollow, airy sound.

Sounds like a supersaw pad, yeah. I need to start learning how to synth program a bit better, I'm sure that you can tweak something like that with Pro-53 easily, hence Pro-53 is actually what I use to make my synths and such. Great VSTi to tweak your own stuff!

hi !
in the clip :
-there is first a synth string patch playing solo (certainly made with few detuned saws) and with volume faded in
-then definatly a supersaw with no filter enveloppe but with its cutoff automated from 15% -> 100% -> 15%, few resonance
-at 0:35, a white noise effet that gives more hiss.

that is how I think it was done.

Thanks a lot guys, I think I have something close to this! By the way, do you have any idea of what supersaw pad that is? I have Spectrasonics Atmosphere, there must be a pad that sounds like that unless you have to tweak it yourself...

Does anyone have time to manipulate something like this? Thanks a lot, I'd appreaciate it if it's not so much to ask for.

Cheers,
~Jordan
