Direct Plug-in Monitors

Dont know if thats the technical term, but i'm looking to get a pair of these to plug in right to the new mixer i purchase. Anyone else have experience with this type of monitor, and what are your thoughts/recommendations?

I noticed these need a different type of plug in option on your mixer, which might be a problem for me. I wanted to get the Dj-M400, but then noticed the back doesnt look like it would support this type of monitor. Hmmmmmmm.

You're looking for active monitors I believe. These kind of monitors have an amplifier built in, meaning all you have to do is hook them up to your power then hook them up to your mixer, usually via a balanced TRS 1/4 inch or XLR connection. If you bought the DJM 400, you would be making an unbalanced RCA to TRS/XLR connection.

Some good monitors to look into-

KRK's Rokit Series
Alesis Active Monitors
Mackie HR series

Hope that helps

balanced is better (than unbalanced) for noise reduction

Hrrrrrm. Should i now reconsider purchasing the M-400 because of this? I would like a good quality mixer, with the option of having a direct plug in for monitors!

those yorkvilles are fine as long as you get the active models.

Any DJ monitors for at home don't really need to be massive in terms of power and drive, unless you intend on using them for house parties, etc.

Any mixer can output to any monitors. As for the lines between the mixer and monitors... as long as it's under 15 feet/ 6-7 meters between them, then you don't need balanced connections/cables.

If you have only RCA ouputs from the master on the mixer, then just use them and get a converter if needed to plugin to the speaker.
If you have XLR or TRS outputs from the master, then you can go right into most speakers.
