Melody and drive?

Does this melody sound good or bad?

It sounded good when i made it but im not sure now. also is it just me or does the track seem to lack drive?

my producing has been very slack recently so i cant judge it very well at the minute. any help would be great.

Your percs are kinda boring. They're panning pretty wide which is cool, but they don't stand out. There's nothing special to give the percussion drive that you need. The melody is pretty simple. It really all depends if that's your quick 4 bar melody or if that's your main melody. The bassline sounds a lot more driving than most of your tracks. That's a plus. I don't know what else to comment on. Good luck with it.

That sounds really bad. It's clipping everywhere. I don't really like the synth and the melody is a bit lifeless and boring. Sorry.

its not been eqed or mastered yet so clipping is inevitable. just need opinions on what i asked. but all i need is honesty. thanks for the help.

ill change the melody as i guess once you realise yourself its not working then you have to lose it.

do you think i need more percussion?

Regarding precs: Have a simple loop between the low and the mid bass, and try to tweak it so that it works well with the kick, keep it dry.

Have a wet loop with delay and some stereo expansion.

Use a nice clap and boost it around 2500 so that it get some punch from the kick, and keep it center with a litle reverb.

And then a Hihat around 8000, with a little reverb.

Cut the wet loop sample around 200.

Have a dry ride playing at low volume in the background, pan it a bit.

Hope it could give u some help!

Cheers
c

its a good start for a melody.. you could build on that and make it a bit more complex, i dont know why people are talking about it changing so much... its only a 14 second clip. anyways, build on that melody and maybe switch up the synth a bit on it... it does sound like video game music with that synth at the moment
