Setting up Ableton Cue with Limited Interfaces
Hey everyone, rather than posting a question I'm going to post a tip for anyone having trouble setting up cueing for ableton on their interface. It started for me basically because I'm mainly a cdj guy but im starting to get into ableton a little bit so I wanted to set up cueing. I found, though that my audio interface (The M-Audio Audiophile USB) has only 1 analog and 1 digital inputs as well as 1 analog and 1 digital outputs. Since my mixer is full analog that rules out using the digital circuit on my interface for cueing.
Solution:
So after much searching I found a generic ASIO driver called ASIO4ALL which allows you to use your built in soundcard in addition to any external interfaces or devices. It's a very similiar concept to the Aggregate Audio Device function in OSX (which is the straight solution for anyone with a Mac ). So you install it and go back to Ableton and configure as needed and voila! You can now cue out of your built in sound card and use your interface regularly!
Hope this helps, and I didnt know where else to put it but just thought I'd put this out there for anyone to use the Search function when this drops off the page.
