There are some great analog filter units out there, but a lot of them are discontinued. If you want a filter, I wouldn't suggest the Pioneer units, as they're very limited. A true analog unit is the way to go. Think of the built-in filters on Xone mixers. They have low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, and all-pass settings, with adjustable cutoff and resonance, and LFOs.
Available now:
Allen & Heath Xone:VF1
Vermona Action Filter II
Vermona Cross Filter
Discontinued:
Electrix Filter Queen
Electrix Filter Factory
Stanton DJF-1
Edit: I just noticed that you have a DJM-400. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a send/return, so you would either have to run the filter (or effects unit) between the master out and your amp/speakers, or you could buy one filter for each deck.
