Having trouble with mixdown (samples included)

Hey all, I'm having a hard time deciding which of these two mixdowns sounds better. Most likely I've just heard too much of this track and need a break from it. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Here are the samples:

[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
(Original mixdown)

[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
(New mixdown with some added elements)

If you'd like to hear the full track it's right here in the promotion forum (Sample 2 was taken from this version)

Thanks in advance!

very subtle differences. i actually prefer the sample 1 mixdown because you could call it a progressive, simpler mixdown with a nice balance of elements. i would pick the sample 2 normally because of more going on for the listener to be captivated by but i feel like the stuff you put in, like the reverse crash triggering and then nothing somehow seemed to simple, if you played around with the climax point of that sample with a unique shooting star twist or something it might come off better. the second seemed much more business but like for no reason. i would either spend more time with the tweaked add-in fx or i would go ahead with a more minimal progressive sample 1.

Actually, the only difference in composition in Sample 2 is: I replaced some hat lines with bongos and tablas to fill up the mix, edited the subbass patch alittle, and I moved a small boost on the midbass eq from ~260hz up to ~400hz.
Also, in Sample 2, I lowered the decay of the kick, and I'm not sure if that took away from the drive of the track.

I'm looking more for advice on the eq and mixing. I'd like to know if Sample 1 is maybe too muddy or, on the other hand, if Sample 2 is too thin in the lower range.
I cut around 250hz in Sample 2 and I'm not sure if its as strong anymore.

Basically, I have my ideas of how I want it to sound, but I'm looking for a second opinion as I feel I've grown to attached to the track and Im struggling to get a proper mix.

Thanks for taking the time to listen!

for me. . . . sample 2 sounds better.
but both are very good in my opininon. As somebody said, the difference is very subtle. the panorama in sample 2 is better.

which delay did you use for the baseline?

cheers,
Luke
