Future Of Food video (degredation of food)

I talked about this a few months ago when some TAs here dismissed any of my points about how the food industry is going in a dangerous direction that is affecting our health, farmers, and nature in negative aspects.

This time I have a video for you guys to see:

I didn't watch the hippie liberal crap. But I prefer more research done in bioengineering. Think about this we can have as many lobsters, salmon, steaks and not harm nature.

Nature didn't expect human greed/fatass's to depleet almost all food sources.

You didn't watch it - its not hippie crap or liberal (it doesnt distinguish between republicans or democrats), its about the dangers of genetic engineering and depletion of natural resources (which affect the amounts of your lobsters, salmon, steaks available) amd the threat to human health.

They're not instilling fear, they describe the situation as it is, no ifs or buts. Since you haven't seen the complete video, there's no point in arguing you. I rest my case ;-)

They are trying to instill fear, highlighting only the negative effects that have arisen. Yes i agree we need tighter control over this industry but theyres just no way to sustainably feed 6 billion people my friend. You can have your 100% organic dinner tonight, but the hungry people all around the world will be thankful if they can get a piece of dirty, genetically modified, bacteria infected bread. Tighter control? Yes. More research? Yes. Attempts at sustainable development when possible? Yes. Just outright ban it because its 'evil' and 'unnatural', thats just selfish and irresponsible.

I think I know where this is going without having to watch something over an HOUR long!

The first line already tips it off, "We used to be a nation of farmers but now it's less than 2% of the population so a lot of us don't know what it takes to grow food".

I'm going to guess that the rest of the video is about how genetic engineered plants are killing off all the natural ones?

As long as we have good samples of non-altered plants stored off to the side, I don't see a problem with creating better ones?

[edit]
If I'm wrong then fine, however how about a little summarization to save some of us the time without having to watch the WHOLE thing??

It's not that easy to destroy these genetically altered foods once they multiply in nature. Its an irreversible process.

But thats not the main topic. The video also talks about how the farmers are getting pushed out by companies like Monsanto, how Monsanto, which was a pesticide company, bought out all major seed companies and now has a monopoly. Also DVD talks about suicide gene technology - how you have to buy seeds every year because at the end of the year the seeds kill themselves (HOW SICK IS THAT, AGAINST EVOLUTION???), etc. etc.

Believe me, this is no conspiracy theory stuff, this is very educational material. I recommend you to watch this. If you liked The Corporation, you'd like this - its very similar.
