I'm thinking of switching from t-mobile pre paid to a plan.
Picking the plan was easy but picking the phone is hard. When i look up reviews on them most say they're low quality and are prone to breaking or software bugs (samsung/moto). I currently have a candbar Nokia. Its a great phone except for the screen and send/end/select buttons are too small.
I only care about a few things
-battery life
-good reception
-sound quality
-durability
-large/easy to read screen
-bluetooth (for wireless handsfree)
I only use my phone for talking so I could careless about a camera,mp3,im,email...
I had the following phones in mind:
-Nokia 6103
-Motorola PEBL (i read good/bad things, don't care for flat keypad)

i believe t-mobile is GSM so you can use virtually any GSM unlocked phone, there is plenty to choose from and not necessarily through their 'lineup' of phones.

You probably would have to purchase it at full price but take it with a grain of salt. You're getting what you want without having to be confined to "T-Mobile" only phones. I'm with Sprint and I despise their phone selection but their service is hands-down the greatest for me. EVDO is just superb, now I only wish Sprint offered a PDA Phone similar to the MDA just that the MDA offered by T-Mobile can only run on EDGE which is damn slow compared to EVDO.
In an ideal world I'd rock the MDA on Sprint but it's unlikely that'll happen. I suggest you do some research on Unlocked GSM phones, this way you can pick and choose the features that fit you the most without having to pay extra for unnecessary crap.
Although, I'm not exactly sure you can 'start a contract' with an unlocked GSM. You'll need the GSM experts on here to get at you with the info, if only Sprint made a dual band GSM/CDMA World Phone similar to the MDA, it'd be the business professionals dream (at least mines)

I would get an "free" phone then go buy real unlock gsm phone like the nokia n73, nokia n80, SE k800/k790, SE K750 (old still but good), or very impressive the Sharp 903/904
my bro gave me a good suggestion he said go to amazon and seach for "t-mobile phone". amazon has a deal that gives you money back when you sign a up for a tmobile contract. they seem to have a better selection
