Just interested - how does everyone prepare for clubs when using the CDJ1000's?

Ie, do you take MP3 CD's and the CD cards with you, or do you know the tunes well enough that you don't need the peak info - or do you just take normal audio CD's to get benefit of pre-read for peak info, but not the ability to sort into folders etc?

I love mine, and I love using them live, but I just take a load of CDs and go for the pre-read option rather than a couple of CDs rammed with MP3s that I need SD cards for if I care about the peak display.

Just interested to hear how everyone else does it when not using their own gear.

i use serato w/ my cdj's

Take normal audio CD's with you, much better in several ways. And offcourse use the sd-card, it's always handy and you don't have to make a big effort to carry them with you

While mp3 and data cds are cool for home practice, loading lots of tracks on one cd and whatnot, for the club id much rather use standard audio cds bc of the noticably fast access times on the cdjs.

I use regular audio cds, because i hate the idea of carrying 3 mp3 cds and using that all night.
First it takes longer to find the track you want, and also it could become an organization issue. I prefer having all my tracks in front of me, rather then remembering where they were stored etc etc. EHHH, id probably forget to play certain killer tunes as well hehe.
Second, i prefer taking the safer route in case the gig's cdjs dont support mp3s, IE cdj 800mk1.
Finally, you seem more occupied when u have a full case of cds, and in my opinion its easier to be more creative behind the decks.

I guess it's just a matter of getting used to, but i wouldnt want to have my full collection crammed in a few cds.

you should know well enough what the tune you're playing sounds like.

or at least know the telltale signs where the breaks are, next mixable point is

(boy, that track analyzer thing on cdj 1000 mk3 is sweet)

You're likely to find clubs using CDJ-1000MK1's and MK2's, and in that case you'd be screwed. The MK3's just came out this year, and at $1100 a piece club owners aren't really rushing to replace their perfectly good MK2's for features nobody needs.

I haven't seen many people swapping the MMC cards. It really only takes the CDJ a short while to update the wave display.

Still haven't seen many people do it

And unless you duplicate your MMC cards, you don't know which card the cue points for a particular CD are on which card.

If you dj at home you will probably have played the same tune with each of your pioneer...

But you wouldn't have set the cue points the same on each player.

I think there's some PC utility to duplicate the cards.
