Spinter Cell: Double Agent

Picked up my copy today, will get into it a bit after class in an hour and half and let you all know what I think.

Anyone else played this yet? It's the reason I bought my 360...

Well, I've only made it through the first two missions, but I must say I'm pretty impressed.

Initial thoughts:

1. The lack of any HUD is , definitely gives the game a more cinematic feel - Which is important because...

2. The game is by far the most story driven Splinter Cell of the series. It's clear immediately during and following the first mission. Lambert is the narrator for this story, not just the colonel, which is an interesting change. And there is definitely more revealed about Sam's character than ever before. Major to this.**

3. New gadgets (though I've only used 2 so far) are quite nice - Especially the new way to handle lights.

4. AI still seems dumb as ever - But that's just initially. We'll see how that changes throughout the game.

Really loving it so far - Splinter Cell is by far my favorite series of video game, this is shaping up beautifully.

**One note for 24 fans - The influence is pretty clear, without being a blatant ripoff. It's a good, good thing

It's official, Sam Fisher is a bigger badass than Solid Snake has ever been.

MGS 4 is going to have to bust out some big fucking guns to compete with this game...

Alright, so I've finished the single player mission (gotten 2 endings so far, don't know if there are more) and here's some thoughts...

- The gameplay is sick. There are literally countless ways to play the game, the control scheme is the same but has never felt more responsive, and the addition of the JBA missions drasticallyy switches up gameplay. Major points for improving on just about every gameplay aspect there is in Splinter Cell.

- Graphics; I've never seen a better looking game. In full on high-def, it's the most beautiful in game real time graphics I've ever seen.

- The story: Great story, but far too short. 8-10 hours of gameplay simply doesn't cut it at this point, and the endings have felt a bit forced so far. The final mission really doesn't feel like it's "final" until about 2 minutes into it when you have to make a decision that clearly signals the end is near. I don't know if there are more than the two endings I've seen, and I don't want to spoil either of them (though they're remarkably similar), but needless to say I was left wanting more.

In the end, it's a terrific game that is simply far too short. I hope they add significant content on Xbox Live.

Worth the $60? Hell yes.

I've been reading about it and it seems like they have cut a large portion of the single player experience down to accomodate the multiplayer and co-op modes. This is all well and good, but if you're someone like me who just wants the singleplayer experience it can leave you feeling a bit empty.

Oh well, still should be great. I have to wait until christmas though to get a new computer so I can actually play it
