[Trance / S.P.O.T.] 3F05Q - Quantum Leap (orig. mix - full) [192kbs]

So I was playing around with a saw patch that I downloaded and came up with the part at 1:52-1:57. From there, everything else just built on, and I'm pleased with the outcome! It is, however, time for me to not listen to it for a while and come back to check levels/EQ/etc. so I thought It would be a good time to upload it too.

Oh, and the whole "S.P.O.T." thing... my way of saying "Synths, Piano, Orchestra Trance" because I don't really know my genres and some help might be needed on that. What would you categorize this as?

Quantum Leap? Well, because the outcome is indeed a leap from my previous works. But mostly because I just finished a degree in Physics, and I think the song is spacey and has multiple changes in energy levels.

I like the mixing of genres, the piano is really nice! The atmosphere built with the background is very well done! Sounds good!

Hey man,
Nice piano melodie, not a big fan of the side chain strings, are a bit caothic for my taste, but that's just me.
The kick is maybe a bit weak for me, I was expecting a huge kick, but this one does the job, the pads are really cool, I like that mysterious feeling, 4:40 needs more power, the piano is really cool, but I think the tune nees a bit more of drive so when the piano enters you feel the drive, I felt like the piano only showed up but it lacked of the drive.
So far sounds very promising, I like alot the pads, the build up could be improved a bit .
Keep it up, going cool .
Kopi =o.

Firstly, I applaud you on your degree in physics. That is a great accomplishment! Physics was always one of my favorite subjects.

Ok, the song:
Great piano opening!!!!! Loved it!! I like the saw you used. Nice. I know this is not the final mix, but the kick drum kind of stuck out for me. I believe it could definitely be tightened up a bit. Don't ask me how - I'm still trying to figure it out

Overall, very good work! I look forward to the final mix.

Have a good weekend!

Hey Akia, kopi, and D.Adams, thanks for the feedback! Isn't that atmosphere in the back rad? It was the last thing I added, and it just fit so nicely and added some character to the mixture. The piano riff came together nicely, that was the second to last thing I added. D.Adams: the saw I used is actually a Reason patch that Eldritch made, and it's fantastic. That's how this song started really, I was playing around with the patch to see how it sounded and just ran with it.

I'm going to rethink the buildup, and get a bit more creative with it. I also brought the piano in earlier, it seems to tie the two moods of the song together better.

Thanks so much for the compliments so far!

I could always use more feedback!

Latest is up...

I ditched the glitchy strings at the beginning. I didn't execute them like I'd hoped.

I beefed up the kick, I hope it's better now.

4:40 has more power. I didn't realize that before I didn't kill the lowpass on that part... should be the way I wanted it now. I also brought the piano in earlier than 4:40.

I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think!

intro is nice, more pads would help here

jump into the 4/4 section is nice, bassline is great. the section is just a little weak, sounds a bit oldschool... i think you just need some more percs in there to drive it more, maybe a few synth hits here and there

rest of the tune is fine, fairly standard, but it works... i think adding more percs and a bigger build up would help bring the song up to production standards

hope that helped, cheers

the intro piano is ok, but has some off notes that stand out from the mix... classic trance elements build and the synth melody that comes in gives an oldschool feel. The piano again when it meets the synth isn't fully following the nice harmonic and stands out too much not to notice... fix up your melodic elements and you've got a descent trancer here...
