And I Iraq, Iraq so far away......

Run away! Run away!

What Iraq? Who, me?

What a fucking weasel. How fast can you Wingnutters run from Iraq? And BTW, anyone else notice how a nice handful of those pro-GOP, pro-war pundits are now jumping on the bandwagon of criticizing Bush's Iraqi strategy (or lack thereof), while seemingly forgetting how they called Dems. who rightly criticized Bush and Rummy's no plan scheme as pro-terrorists, anti-Americans, traitors, and so on? It really is cute.

I know you're right, but what does this really say about the principles of standing firm? Supporting the Commander in Chief? Supporting the Party leader? Supporting the troops and their mission?

Eh, nevermind. I know that politics tends to trump policy at times. But I do wonder, if the GOP retains both Houses next week, what will they do with Iraq? Or perhaps the same question should be asked of the Democrats with Bush in the office - what could they possibly do that would somehow be different than our current course should they take over Congress? What could they do against Bush's current Iraqi policy?

That you or I would probably make more effective leaders than our elected officials, if only for a short time, if for no other reason than that we actually value our beliefs and principals and have not been sullied with dreams of power and wealth. Of course, I'm only stating the obvious. I'm a drunken cynic.

I'm becoming quite the scotch afficionado lately! I saw Vijay Singh and Warrick Dunn at dinner tonight. WTF?!?!

Scotch-bourbon blend or single malt? I still have more of a taste for the blends, but a good single malt can be a great sipper.

No booze for me tonight. Fucking neurology exam on Monday, and it's a doozy. Oh yeah, one last thing to note - did you see the Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times, and Marine Times all call for Rummy's head?:

Bush needs to cut his losses and get rid of the poor fella.

Ever since my trip to Scotland a year ago I've been making an effort to get to know the single malts. Even better, I have some work aquaintences in town so I get free dinners and it's a good time to try some nice ones that I'm probably too cheap to otherwise try. Tonight I had a Macallan 18 year and a Balvenie 15. Really liked the Balvenie. I'm sitting here sipping a Glenlivet as I type. Man--having a pregnant wife (the DD)is really doing my liver some favors--NOT!

The Army has never had much use for Rummy. I think we all know Dubbie is too stuborn to cut any heads off. He lets them fall under their own incompetence, eh Brownie?

Funny--ISI has been steadily upping the odds of a dem slam dunk, yet as this thing gets down to the wire I can't help but feel that it's going to end up being a nail biter. A little gridlock would probably be good for all of us. God knows the GOP hasn't stepped in than their fair share of shit recently.

I didn't know that about you and your wife. Congratulations! You know the gender yet?

I went to a Highland Park whisky tasting and food pairing two weeks ago ... it was freaking awesome. I got to try Highland Park 12 yr, 15 yr, 25 yr, and 30yr olds. I must admit that the quality of the whisky and the food pairings were sensational. Plus I sat at a table filled with young professional 25-30 year olds so it wasn't so stuffy as the rest of the room ... 50-60+ old farts.

Thanks. No idea yet. Only about 9 weeks along but right now we'll settle for "healthy."

That sounds awesome. I must admit, the first few times I really took myself to task I thought I was drinking gasoline, but it's amazing how fast it can grow on you!

I'm 26, and this is still how I feel about scotch most of the time, yet I drink bourbon like Maker's or Knob Creek on the rocks all the time. My girlfriend and I were supposed to go to a Balvenie scotch tasting this week, but I ended up working late, but there's no worries, lots of companies do these free tastings/seminars in NYC all the time.

Oh, and congrats on the DD, and I guess the expected child, too. Is this your first?
