I got 3 tickets for Tiesto on ticketbreak. I am puzzled how they add/charge convenience fees and taxes. The reason why is coz I was also about to get 2 tickets for Nocturnal’s 10yr party with Morillo and taxes and convenience charges looked a lot different. For Tiesto I was charged PST and GST and Convenience fee +GST. For Nocturnal’s party tickets the site displayed only Convenience+ GST on top of the price of the ticket. Was there an error when the transaction for Tiesto tix was processed? Why I am being charged 3 things for Tiesto tickets and only 1 for Nocturnal’s party? Does anyone have an explanation? Have you had the same charges on top of price of the tickets for similar purchases and do you why do they charge in such manner? Is it not that only PST or GST (not sure wich one now!)is added to the price of tickets? I have left a message for ticketbreak rep to contact me for an explanation but none has called back for the past 3 days. Here are screen shots for the 2.

Think about it like this: if above is not true you got a deal on eric morillo!

GST / PST stuff can be confusing.
Basically if you're involved in the business of making "taxable supplies of admissions in Canada for a place of amusement" then you have to register and get a GST account.
The way I see the above - 'Convenience Fee (including GST)' means that you are being charged a Convenience Fee by Ticketbreak - since they are providing a service (online ticket sales) - thus forcing them to charge GST on whatever their convenience fee is.
Admission charges to view indoor or outdoor performances and entertainment are taxable at the Ontario retail sales tax (RST) rate of 10% where the price is more than $4.00 [excluding the federal goods and services tax (GST)]. The federal government allows vendors the option of using GST-included pricing when billing customers.
RST is to be collected at the time the tickets are purchased whether the tickets are sold by series, or season subscription, or on the day of the event. A cover charge is considered to be a price of admission. The tax collected or collectable must be paid by the due date of the next RST return.
You can either have it as a separate charge or included in the ticket price. In Morillo's case, GST/RST are included - in Tiesto's - they're both separate.
That's my take on it - if anyone knows otherwise - speak up.
