Exclamation EDM Scene is growing! (proof)

quote:
Top 100 DJs 2006: Results
The results of the most important poll in dance music
A staggering 217,102 dance music fans voted in DJmag's 2006 Top 100 DJs poll.

That's 90,000 more than last year and a true indication that dance music is still a massive global phenomenon.

The truly global reach of DJ culture was once again highlighted with votes coming in from 229 different countries (there are only 243 recognised countries in the world).

The USA provided the most votes in 2006, closely followed by the UK, and then Germany.

This year's monster massive (LA) sold 35,000 tickets, 2 years ago it was 21,000

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Why would it be a bad thing?

It's great news in my opinion.

Evidence that it is picking up is good, after all the hype about it dying out. Thank god for the USA, though you were a bit slow on the uptake of EDM........

The USA still hasnt exactly picked up EDM. Most people say "Oh, you listen to techno". USA still has a long way to go when it comes to EDM, and i hope someday it will catch on here. Most people here don't like it if you can't sing along to it or it doesn't involve lyrics with bangin' hoes, shooting someone/something, or drugs. Plus, I don't think USA as a country is as open and accepting as most other countries in the world, they like things the way they are and don't take change to well.

Very true. I hate when people say....oh is that techno? I feel like smacking them

Yes, but they gotta start listening somewhere. Listening to their tracks and enjoying them will get them out to the club, eventualy.
