the mixer and my laptop

hey guys, i wanna disconnect my mixer from the turntables and connect it to my laptop, I have Traktor Dj Studio 3 and Virtual Dj, what can i do to simply start mixing the mp3's i have on my laptop using this program and my mixer. is it first possible to do so, if yes can someone pls tell me how

Generally speaking, you will have to have an output (on your soundcard) for each virtual deck that you have.

You are pretty much just using the computer as the turntables.

show me an example of a soundcard that i can use... and r u also saying that i will have to plug cables into the soundcard for each Channel 1 and 2

With Traktor you will need a soundcard that has 2 (or more) stereo outputs. Such as the Echo Indigo DJ (that's what I use with Traktor 2.5 and 3). Or you could use a USB or firewire soundcard that has 2+ stereo outputs.

I don't know what you would use with other software like Virtual DJ.

you can use a basic s/c just to try it out.. assign each deck in tracktor to its own channel .. then plug in the left to a channel on your mixer and the right to the other channel on your mixer.. works for me , but its in mono.. i was just messing around .. kinda cool , cause you still cue in your headphones and such..
