Soundcard For Recording Mixes

Hi guys, I know nothing about soundcards and which would be best for what.

I know to record to a laptop you can use an external soundcard with a line in, but haven't a clue about which brands etc. are best.

All I need it for is to record mixes, so any suggestions would be very welcome. Price is irrelevant, I want a really good quality one for the job.

Thanks in advance

just thinkin' off of the top of my head here...but i think if you need an external soundcard look @ the motu stuff, and also the m-audio stuff, and also...hmmm...can't think of anything else at the moment...ya i think that motu has a good unit. that should get you started on some research, otherwise i know there are other people here more knowledgble on the subject.

a lot of threads on this. heard some bad things about the USB cards(even 2.0), i have an external firewire for my ableton set up but prior to... i had an echo mia MIDI that was awesome for recording.

you need to make a decision on an external or internal card. read some other posts about it... there have been many
