Evil1 Vanguard Valet staff jacked my phone. What's next?

OMG. I've been parking valets off and on all over O.C and L.A and I guess that I've been pretty lucky with honest valet staff members. A lesson to never let down your guards and be too trusting. Well, yesterday, after a great night seeing Paul Oakie spin at Vanguard, we came out to find that the gf's LG Chocolate that was in her purse that was thrown in the backseat was MISSING!

Has this happened to your guys before and what do you guys recommend that I should do. Should I even waste my energy and effort talking to the manager there?

Thanks for your input. If anything, I just wanna give a shout out to the TA community. Guys, learn from my mistake and never leave any valuables in the car when you valet.

Sad.

H

there are several other ways to recover the phone(especially counting on the vallets being idiots).

1.call verizon, tell them your phone was stolen and you need all phone records made on that phone at the point you relized the phone was misssing. this is the easiest way to get the phone back and find discover the culprits if they are stupid enough to use the phone to make calls to thier friends with it. also make sure you tell verizon to moniter any calls made from the phone until its recovered.

this also works if the person takes/sends pictures as a lot of companys have an automatic download of pics sent to be forwarded to your phone email account(if you have one)

2.get the serial number of the phone, then look up any possible phone stores in the area that may buy used phones and let them know to be on the lookout for it.(this ones more of a longshot since you dont know if the person who took it can blank the phone themselves, and then you have scummy retailers that just dont care if the phones stolen to make a quick buck.

3. a longer shot: call the phone repeatedly. if anybody answers there is a chance there position can be located by satellite.911 operators use it to pinpont people who call from cell phones .

good luck i hope you get it back!

This is the reason the valet key was invented. Lock up everything in your glove box and in your trunk and hand the valet the single valet key. Problem solved.

Unlike Avalon, Vanguard does own that lot, so I would call them up and tell them...but at the same time, I think that little stub says they are not responsible for anything lost or stolen.

I would just not be retarded next time That would be like me throwing my camera in the back seat.

There are only three places to put stuff when valet parking...on your person, in the trunk, or locked in the glove compartment.

So sorry about your phone! What s stinker of a way to end the night :-( *HUGS* Good luck! Please keep us informed about how it all turns out.

Unfortunately, this has happened to me a few times in LA with stuff being stolen from the Valet(not at the Vanguard though). I decided to either use my Valet key and now prefer to just park myself. My car had been hit several times while in Valet Parking (and of course they deny it) and its just not worth it to me. I'd rather walk 10-50 yards rather than having stranger snooping though my car.
