does anyone know if drummachines are any good? I am thinking of getting one not only for the mixing but also for remixing tracks. Or do I need some other machine to remix? Any body got any tips?

Drum Machines are good but if you're doing remixing you might want to think about a sampler instead.

Anyway check out Novation Drumstation and the Roland MC303/505 and Akai Samplers. You could also go the PC route and use soft synths like Re-Birth or Reason.

You'll definitely need a sequencer so I'd recommend going PC and getting used to the trade and then get yourself some dedicated gear once you know what you need.

yeah i was wondering about that. I know nothing of producing, though I am interested but got a limited budget ofcourse. I guess the software is cheaper Or not? Its just my computer is also a bit slow (old). Do u need any special requirments or something. Soudncards etc.
I looked at the roland mc303 and the Korg electribes what do they exactly do? I knw vagely, but want to go out and buy one and find it is the wrong thing.

thxxxxx

The MC303 and the Electribes are grooveboxes. Stupid name but they each have a sequencer and sound generation and sampling capabilities. They're probably the kind of thing you should go for once you're set up.

Before you buy anything, get hold of some software demos - something like Computer Music in the UK always has loads of stuff.

Something like Fruity Loops is a software version of a groovebox - you can create patterns really quickly and import your own samples. Re-birth is a TR-909/808 and TB-303 software synth. Once you've got the idea, think about buying dedicated hardware.

You'll at least need a soundcard to provide you with reasonable in and out etc....
