I've never had a reason to go (it's usually hiphop shows) but i might make the journey for this. I know a few people that might motivate me to try at least.

Went to see BT at the Belly up and had no idea it was going to be a sleepy-tripped out set. It was definitely not your night out to enjoy the trance that I've known him for. The live music was soo mellow and chill, you needed to be stoned off your ass or on mushrooms to enjoy it. Yawns everywhere, except for all the people drugged up and mesmorized. I think he had about 10 fans there, and the rest were just belly up randoms who had no idea.

So "BT's will perform his newest release, This Binary Universe" wasn't warning enough for you it wasn't going to be a "club kids on E" event? Damn.

That's like seeing a movie trailer for a horror movie, then going in and saying "Holy crap, what's with all the blood and gore?"

the night was amazing.

personal review:

thomas dolby - sorry guys but i'm not old enough to appreciate this kind of sound. i knew what he was doing and i appreciate his originality but the cheesey 80's synth pop wasn't winning me over. HOWEVER, there was a good 100+ person crowd who was there strictly for him.

bt - i went there knowing full well what to expect. BTU is an amazing album and i can appreciate the experiment he did with it. he played everything from rhodes piano to electric vioilin. he even played an acoustic vers of satellite at the end on guitar. very cool. nonetheless, bt is defiently still the pioneer that he was 10 yrs ago and his synth programming is insane.

i'm off to bed but what a cool night, highly recommend if you can appreciate BTU

Anthony
