Basically some professor in the US got a chip implanted in a nerve in his arm and it records all the electrical impulses (pain, movement etc...) on a computer.
I saw an interview with this dude and he said he hoped he would soon be able to connect his nervous system to an ltrasonic sensor and give himself a sixth sense (not unlike that of a bat). He also said eventually you may be able to attach a chip with some sort of receiver to your optic nerve and receive transmissions from an infra red camera or something. Or you could record electrical impulses related to emotion and use your chip to transmitt them to another person's chip - what better way to tell someone you love them than to send them your emotions.
Anyway this dude's a bit of a tripper - he thinks that in the future we'll all have these enhancements.

Yeah i heard about this, and the top robotics bloke in the uk is testing something, so in the future we could all have like a hard drive plugged into our brain, for extra space and stuff. This all sounds way to dodgy. I am scared about the prospects of AI. I just imagin terminator, etc

yeah last night when i shoulda been sleeping there was some NOVA program on here where they were talking about how as we become more and more dependent on computers we will eventually become part of us. we will be cyborgs walking around that can have a computer scan everyones face we pass and give us information about them...so no one will be a stranger. freaky if you ask me! late/

relax guys...theres no need to jump to conclusions like that...whenever sumthing new comes out everybody start making all these predictions...like when TV came out so many ppl. said radio was gonna die but nothing of the sort happened...i mean im not saying that its not possible, all im saying is that its way too early to jump to conclusions and say that we're all gonna be cyborgs

but it would be cool if they made a real life terminator )(a good one)

no im being serious, and so were they. what IS a cyborg? generally we think of them as being super human robots, but the truth is- humans that depend on technology like computers would technically be cyborgs too. the program i was watching was simply discussing how as computers become smaller (so that they can display infromation on your sun or eyeglasses) we will all in a way be cyborgs. im not freaked out about it - its just the truth! late/
