Sorry I have used search.... honest, but I figure specs & speeds change pretty quickly these days. Must be PC BTW.
Basically got about GBP500 - GBP600
which is approx..
US $1000
Euro -750
Aussie $1250
Basically run Fruity and the pretty mainstream VSTi's (to make pretty rubbish stuff TBH!).
Cheers Guys in advance.
Oh BTW, do any Laptops come with a half decent soundcard? or is that just a no no?? |
At that price range, I wouldn't get anything other than a Toshiba. If you buy a crappy Dell/Acer/SuperFunYumcha laptop and then come on here in one week crying of "ground noise" I think you'll find your 500 quid was wasted :P
Integrated soundcards are always shite. So you need to make sure whatever you buy has firewire, because most good external soundcards use firewire. USB is terrible. Don't ever buy a USB soundcard.
The cheapest "OK" external soundcard you will find is a Firewire Audiophile.
My laptop is a 1.73 Dothan Centrino w/1gb ram and a 5400rpm HDD. I'm not sure how much they go for, but it suits me fine - so anything around that is going to be enough. It's not the fastest in the world, but anyone who needs so much more processing power is doing something wrong - I can load up 5 or so copies of z3ta and have waves plugins on every channel without hitting 100%.
