I think why alot of people love the likes of Sasha and Digweed, myself included, is that they don't have to rely on the cheesy anthems that alot of other djs default to. For instance, Tiesto, van Dyk, and even Oakenfold spin alot of well known, over-used songs. I love these guys as much as you all do, but they don't have the originality in song selection that Sasha and Digweed do. Maybe I am going out on a limb here, but maybe you find their song selection boring because you have a very narrow taste in what progressive has to offer. Anthems are fine, but Sasha and Digweed tirelessly search out unknown tracks and blend them together brilliantly. That takes talent. Whether you are able to appreciate it or not probably relates to the maturity of your musical taste.
As for calling Digweed and Sasha commercial, I think that is a bit of an ignorant statement. Their song selection testifies to that. Who continually drops Darude, Zombie Nation, or Storm? That would be Tiesto, van Dyk, or Oakenfold before Diggers or Sasha.

O.k., being commercial doesnt mean the track's they play as a dj. When I say commercial I mean getting to the point that when someone that doesnt know about trance the first name that would pop up in there mind is "Sasha & Digweed". Reason for that being that they are COMMERCAIL. Sure they might play "unknown tracks", just because they are "unknown tracks" doesnt mean that they dont suck!!!
O and as far as Darude, Zombie Nation, Storm, those are all good artist that know how to make songs that will keep the crowd and the listener movin. And as far as Tiesto, Van Dyk, and Oakenfold, maybe "Diggers and Sasha" should take some lessons from them. Goodbye

Sasha & Digweed
OK I am downloading a Armin Van Buuren mix at the moment and was looking through the site when I came upon this discussion forum and more importantly the rubbish that some people are talking about sasha and digweed. First of all if being commercial is being well know you can hardly blame them. Its not their fault that they are well known. What would be poor is if they play cheesy big tunes just to sell cds but they don't. When was the last time you saw them do a cream or minstry cd. They don't because they are shit. The great thing about Sasha & Digweed is that their mixing is seamless. You can't tell when you go from one track to another, and their style is different to all the stuff that is on this site at the moment, they play progressive house/trance, that is very different to the stuff PVD and Tiesto etc play. Their sets are also much more controlled building up slowly from the beginning. Sets by Tiesto and PVD and Oakey etc tend to be a lot more up and down, not that I am crticising they are just different. I was talking to a friend the other day and we were saying that to compare oakey with sasha and digweed is like chalk and cheese. They are so different it is unreal. The problem is that people don't seam to appreciate the different skills and styles of so many djs. One of my new favourites is deep dish and danny tenaglia, i know they don't play trance but their sets are brilliant anyway.

children children..
what you dont realize is that sasha and john digweed dont really reprsent the trance we are listening to.. today. their style is more progressive trance, and old style trance from back in like 1995/96..
digger is fucking amazing, tru that.. i saw him here in LA once and i didnt stop moving. he can read a crowd like none other.
i'm not very partial to sasha, i beleive it should be..
"JOHN DIGWEED and sasha the groupie"
peace.
and to positiva, "are you saying darude, storm, and zombie nation are bad producers?"
i'm saying they are bad producers. have you heard any of their other tracks?! they are the backstreet boys of the underground dance scene. strait up. they make cheeze records and would NEVER be on my playlists..
