Truth or Myth: If you die in your dreams you actually die?

I was just wondering how many of you believe that if you die in a dream you actually die in real life? I'm not that superstitious, but I guess this one still kinda gets me.

Last night I had this really wierd dream that I was at some hotel with virtually everyone I know and there were these ghosts there that really wanted to kill me. I kept trying to get away, but they would enter other peoples' bodies and turn them against me. I was constantly on the run. It really freaked me out to the point where I woke up numerous times through out the night b/c I didn't want to die! I barely got any sleep...at least good quality sleep.

What do you guys think? Truth or myth? Should I be afraid of dying in my sleep? Have you ever died in your sleep?

I had similar dreams once and I read up on it. It apparently meant for me at least, that and old part of me was dieing off and new things were to come. Which was very true for me at the time, as I was moving, going back to school, starting a new job etc.. Definately freaky to die in your dream though. I don't usually remember my dreams but I remember this one very vividly.

I did not. It was very odd. To sum it up in the end I saw a little girl in a tree on the side of a cliff. She said " I'll remember you" and then jumped. When I woke up, I totally felt like it was me that jumped, so I think in relative terms yes I did, but it wasn't physically me in my dreams. It was VERY weird, I couldn't sleep at all that night after that.

Hmmm...ya I've had a couple dreams where I've been close to death throughout my life time, but none that I've actually died in.

No, I don't believe that if you die in your dreams, you will die in 'real' life. Dreams are our subconscious realm taking visual shape, and as such things in dreams never mean their literal meaning.

Usually I'm never interested when somebody tells me about their dreams, however this time I'm intrigued by your nightmare because it deals with ghosts. Either I've been watching too much Ghost Whisperer these days or something really tells me that your dream was in some way really spiritually connected this time. Probably has something to do with past lives or something...

Good book to read is "The Tibetan Book of the Dead", it's a text dealing with reincarnation, dreams and the spiritual realm.
