Looping on CDJ1000mk3

CDJ1000 users,

Playing around with the 1000s I love the loop, particularly for looping on an outro, you can sort of make an outro infinitely long, meaning loads of mixing out time.

And you can store them, great!

But, what if you have a loop, lets say for the sake of argument, at 7:50 to 7:55. What if you wanted the CDJ to play the loop as the regular play mode passed 7:50 and then loop at the 7:55 stage, over and over. So basically the loop in process was seamless. The only way I can see to do it is to either do it live or be incredibly well timed when hitting the hot cue button you stored it on.

Hope this makes sense.

I know how to loop in and have it LEAVE the loop seamlessly, but what about ENTERING a loop seamlessly?

well first set the loop points in the cued track.

then after the loop points have been set and the track is looping, start rewinding the track maually to the start ( do not hit cue )

hold the track by hand and let go when you're ready to mix. the loop will start when it gets to the loop points you set and will loop until you exit the loop.

OK, cheers guys. Shame it has to be a workaround - but at least it can be achieved, only thing you can't do then i assume is loop at the start and end of the track!

Boooo!

Looping on the CDJ-1000's is a pain in the ass. Even if you make a loop which "sounds" seemless, if you are off even by a frame it'll be a bitch to mix into or out of (for extending an intro/outro).

I know the CDJ-800's have "beat" loops that automatically loop a certaing number of bars. Can anyone comment on how well they work?

I have Torq now, and the looping on it is great. It's automatic and accurate enough to feel comfortable using on the fly.

the cdj200 and 800s share the same auto beat looping technology it works relatively well but is still never 100% meaning you will never be able to mix in/out of this unless you happen to be REALLY quick to beatmatch and happen to have one free hand for riding the pitch at all free times...just isnt worth it in my opinion. the torq looping from what i hear is damn good so id stick with that if i was you! personally i use the DJM800's roll effect to sample off loops of different lengths as it works much better than the cdj looping could ever work lol.

Awesome, just played wit the 800s roll, superb effect for a loop outro.

Nice!
