After an exhausting month of tragedy and suffering, I was at a point where I couldn't even think straight. I wasn't even able to write music, which is what I normally do in times like these.
I started trying to write after I heard the news but nothing could come out, in other words everything sounded like shit in my ears. Between work and school I had to take a serious moment, sit back, rethink everything and step back up. After speaking to a few people (mainly Francis Preve, thanks for the inspiration and encouragement to do what I love, you really changed my life around) I got back behind my keyboard and wrote possibly one of the most beautiful downtempo songs I've ever written.
The coolest thing I guess you could say was on my way to another city right after take off I pulled out my laptop, my two octave keyboard and called up Live. As I was laying down the keys to the song and deciding the most difficult decision I think any musician can make, which is deciding when the song is done the most beautiful thing happened. As I sat in 23A and looked out the window listening to what I added and hearing it build in my headphones, the plane began its climb through the clouds, the colors outside the window began changing from grey to brown, back to grey, then white. Soon enough as the song peaked out we broke out of the clouds and the sun beamed through the cabin with the most beautiful orange glow I had ever seen. Watching out the window seeing the beautiful blue sky that was hidden by hideous clouds, slowly breakthrough as soon as the song peaked, I knew this was it. It was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever witnessed and obviously will never forget.
So on that note, here is the download for free, Armando Cajide - Gracie's Song. She inspired all of us, even brought some of us back together to be closer than ever. She was one of the most giving, nicest, free spirited person anyone could ever meet. There will never be anyone quite like her. I hope you guys enjoy it, we miss you Grace.
