New Electro House Tune (I think!) - Electrotastic (130bpm)

Hello everyone. I've finally finished a track that I think I'm quite pleased with.

Please give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Honest criticism and suggestions for improvement would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Some pretty nice ideas going on here.

It's a bit too simple perhaps (although I realise that's probably the effect you were going for.) I think the bassline just isn't quite cool enough to keep me interested for 7 minutes, but I like some of the filter sweeps you've done, and I particularly like that really trippy synth that dominates the second part of the track.

With such a simple bassline, you could maybe make the percussion a bit more interesting to give the track some life; the whole thing seems to be very thud-thud-thud, there's nothing "in between". You should add some off-beat details to the percs so the track has a smarter groove.

I agree with what Col said about the percussion.

I think you could add another synth in the first part, maybe a different one entirely that gets cut out when the trippy synth comes in later. Not anything huge, just an additional element that might give the track more direction and immediate interest.

I also think just a bit of variation on the last few notes of the bassline at different points in the track could spice things up well, and maybe play with the cutoff or resonance of the filter on it a little, too.

So far you've got a good track going, though.

nice track, contrary to previous post i think the bassline has plenty of expression once it gets to the full pattern.

the spooky melody is a nice touch but i would do some effects automation on that layer, a stutter effect or similar & give it some depth with a light phaser. also light panning automation should give that part some more depth.

to compensate for the bassline's lack of variation (or in addition too) you should do like the other guy said and add fills to the percussion, what i mean by this is change the the kick pattern from a 4/4 to something more complex for the 4th count. Cut out high hats at certain parts and cut the kick on the 4th count (or longer...) before major changes in the song.

your use of sweeps is great.

hope this helped.

I like it.

Perhaps the lead is a little on the harsh side but other than that it works fine.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Really glad that on the whole, you think its a good track. Might go back to it and play around with the percussion a little bit but other than that, I'll probably leave it as it is. (To play it my computer hits 98% computer usage and slows right down, making it a pain to listen to.

Without getting ahead of myself, how far is this away from being releasable? I'm not doing this to get signed, I'm doing it for personal satisfaction, but nevertheless, I would love to make a track that was released.

Honest answers please

Thanks a lot

Greg
