Dunno Audiojelly Launches Independent Artists Store

Taken from T.nu :

quote:
"Having recently completed upgrades to the Audiojelly Store, the team behind Europe's leading dance music download portal have now launched a new store for independent artists across the world.

Ajtunes.com is the first dedicated download store in dance music to give independent artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their music to a global consumerbase. With one of the highest royalty rates on the internet for download sales, Ajtunes will change the landscape for unsigned artists, giving them the platform to promote their music with high profile coverage, as well as earning arguably the best income for sales of their music.

Co-founder of Audiojelly Ricky Simmonds commented: "With the recent
upgrades to the main Audiojelly store, we now have better navigation, a better layout and a much more comprehensive system for customers buying music from their favourite labels and artists. We have chosen to implement all these features over the last few months, prior to launching the AJtunes store, which we believe is a long overdue service for the thousands of independent artists around the world who have music that is not signed to a label.

All music on AJtunes.com is sold on a non-exclusive basis, so artists are free to promote or sell their music anywhere else (online or offline). Artists also
have complete control of managing their own music content, and the choice to sell their tracks at any price they choose. If an artist or a track is signed up by a label, there are no issues involved - as every artist can remove their tracks at any time they wish. If you are an independent artist looking to promote and sell your music, simply visit AJTunes.com to create an account and get your music onto the store. "

........................................................

What do people think of this?

It will be absolutly massive for amateur producers imo....although ive heard some samples of tracks already on there and they sound like they were made in 2 mins on E-Jay.....and are selling for over £1.50

Im sure we are going to hear a lot about this in the future...

not good imo.

its great to be able to promote/sell your own material. but due to the fact that people can upload their own music within minutes without needing to sort out legal issues like agreements then it will mean that people will end up uploading anything..

in the long run there will be so much ejay crap on there that it wont be worth trying to find the 1 in a hundred decent tune.

or.... if audiojelly are stricter on who they sign up then this could mean the death of digital labels..?

Yeah there should be some quality control brought in - as i mentioned before, some tunes on there sound like they were made in a few mins with default loops & synths..

Theres also going to be a copyright issue - the audiojelly team are going to have to lisen to every second of every song in case there are sample taken from other productions

all i know is that AJ is going to make a killing with this. 49.00L a year? shaft. I don't think many under-rated un-signed producers will make more then that on sales in a year, but hey they can try now

Personaly I believe that if you believe in your music enough to want to sell it and promote it and do all the work for it- then why shouldnt you have the chance.

but- soundclick.com lets you sell any tracks you want for as much as you want minus the yearly fees...

best of luck to them- catalin.
