well... AIF isn't really a 'codec' per se... because it's not compressed. the only thing different between your AIF and a WAV is that the headers of the file are different, but the raw audio info remains the same. You should be able to convert to WAV with relative ease via any of the software apps mentions above. Itunes is not going to pervert your file if the source is AIF...
make sure not the truncate the word length though if you happened to receive 24 bit files.
