A chance to use the cdj1000's

This thursday, i'm gonna spin at a party of my study's club. All friends & relatives and the sort. (first "real" gig in a club for me yay! )
I'm probably spinning about 2 hours.

The club has pioneer cdj1000 mk3's and a Dateq mixer (dunno which one), which I have never used before, but i'm very excited about it. Myself, I have 2 cdj200's and a numark dxm-06 mixer.

My question is, what features of the 1000's should I definitely give a try, and which should I avoid? I'm probably gonna spin a club/house classics set and some top 40 chart music since they'll probably dig that the most .
All tips are appreciated!

EDIT: I've been using my cdj's for about 3 months now. I'm quite able to do basic mixing on trance and club so far.... just thought it would be handy to mention

I've got a pair of CDJ1000s and my mate has a pair of 200s.

Just use them to mix, don't go out there and expect to competently be able to use features that you've not had a chance to at least practise with first.

Basically, in my opinion, the 1000s are massively better decks. Some people say that if you don't need vinyl emulation just go with the 200s as they are just as accurate. Thats a load of bollocks. The pitch on the 200s is supposed to be .02% and although you can get it to shift .02% it often skips .04 or even.06 at a time when you are on the 6% range. I can spend about 10 seconds trying to get the right shift on them - I think they're a bag of shit. Also the pitch bend up and down witht he platter, it behaves very differently on the 200s. The 1000s feels so much better, and it's far easier to adjust your track. You waste so much time on the 200s doing this - time that could be better spent doing other things.

Basically I can mix with the 200s, but it's so much more of a pleasure to mix on the 1000s.

The 1000's really don't have many features at all... Hot cues and loops, that's about it!

You can do a hell of a lot more if you know how - but it isn't so much a case of what you've got as how you use it.

This pisses me off about my 200 as well. At least with the 100, it doesn't skip increments.

But yeah 1000's are sooooooooooooooo nice to mix on.

Just keep it safe. I wouldn't try to use any "features" if it was my gig.

keep the lock on the eject button. i've seen plenty of people eject the cd that was still playing by accident.

Guilty! haha

Although that was with one of my CDJ100s I took to a gig, which don't have such advanced technology as eject lock.

I'm just about to buy a new CDJ and was going to to go with the 200 but would I be better off just buying the 100 and saving the money?

No... the 100 is pretty old at this point... the 200 is a much better unit.
