turning on an EFX-1000

in the order of turning my gear on, where does the EFX go? I normally turn the monitors on first, then the mixer, then the CDJs. I just don't want to blow anything by having a signal being sent to it before it's even turned or something like that.

speakers LAST mate!

start at the beginning of the chain (ie, sound sources, decks, CDJs, then to your processors, mixer, FX unit. put all the gains all the way down, then turn on the amps/speakers. this way, you don't get a POP sound (which isn't good for your speakers).

you won't hurt your EFX1000 by turning it on at the wrong time in any case.

I always assumed this is bad, and have always turned equipment on starting from the beginning of the chain with speakers last... but why is this 'POP' sound bad?

Any answer doesnt have to be too technical, but more would be nicer. Thanks

Pops are hard on tweeters because they can't handle as much transient power as woofers and have the high frequencies in a pop being routed to them, though I'd think the volume would have to be WAY up for there to be any real damage. that's also why you should turn gains down before powering up and turn them up when everything is running.
