How did G&D get the acapellas?

I wonder where did they get the acapellas from artists such as "the killers," "evanescence," and stuffs like that? Is there some place you can buy it at or what? I dont know how the trance world for productions work really...

Yeah.. i dont think that addresses the question here at all.

Becuase of their status, they likely received approved acapella's from the record labels that operate those bands. Those remixes may have even been sanctioned by the original artists remixes. who knows

Just like any other remix project, it starts with getting permission. Many "EDM friendly" bands often welcome remix projects and often enough all you have to do is contact thier A&R people (or if you're lucky, the artist themselves). Since most bands do multi-tracking recording, getting individual tracks (drums, vocals, guitars, etc) for a remix is easy once you've made contact. There's no guarantee that they'll like your remix or publish it, but it's great experience and even if it doesn't get published, it looks good on one's "dj resume".

Most likely, samples/parts from the original track got sent to a whole bunch of people specifically for the sake of having remixes done, and G&D were on the list, and were one of the groups that decided to go ahead with it.

People with status in that business don't have to ask to do remixes, they get asked by the original labels/producers.

It is possible, for a pop/rock track, that they asked the label. G&D are known for remixing those sorts of tracks, though, so I'm sure that if they asked, the label gave it to them without hesitation.

While this is true, G&D are known to enjoy these bands and seek out bands like Evanessence for remixes. Like any producer, they like to remix bands they enjoy listening to. Since they are indeed an international act, it's in thier best interest to ask permission before dropping a remix. It's certain that since they are an international act, that the original artists won't mind.

Yeah there are BUT they don't do very good job at it really, so don't get your hopes up... If you want some quality acapellas, cutting them from the original song is not the way to go. If you want to test it out yourself and/or just have fun with those things, try this link out:

http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/VOCAL_REMOVERS/
There's some "Vocal Removers" for you, just select your platform and find some nice one to test out. There's a lot more of those out there though, but try google to find them. If you ever find a program that does vocal removing (or removes everything else than the vocals) perfectly and it doesn't make it sound all bad, gimme a PM as I'd really like to know what kind of technology they'd need to use for that
