I think a lot of it might be regional differences in what we call the genres. For example I met a South African girl that called trance 'house' and psy trance 'trance', i believe it's not uncommon for the dutch to call trance 'house' as well.

Im also getting sick tired of house there's too much funky shit out there. And it seems alot of people like to spawn alot of house threads everywhere on the forums. They follow the flow just like the moneydiggers. Ask the same people 5 years ago and they would say Tiësto big time. Time to make a dedicated forum or "houseaddict" for those housegeeks?
We need to reinvent old-school trance back again from the ground and not for the money of course. Wish i had a timemachine.
Just a personal opinion.

What's wrong with calling psy trance "trance?" That's what it is.

Well, house is the more popuar style of the two...and it's smothering trance right now in some respects.
But I always find plenty comfort in retreating back to all the old goodies .

First I've heard of this. Where does it happen, exactly?
