What to do?

Hey

i hope someone here can help me with the dilema im going to be facing in april.Basically, im having a major upgrade of everything hardware. My studio currently consists of the following.

698mhz time machine running windows from 1999 lol (cubase, fruity loops, ableton live)
HD25 headphones, about the best thing i have.
A normal Hi-fi

Ive made the decision to go for the mackie HR824 monitors=£800 a pair, so thats that out of the way

Obviosly, looking at my pc setup, im in despirate need of an upgrade

Pc, or mac? ok, and, tower or laptop?

I am a dj and producer.Ive kinda let the djing slip thought the p[ast fews years as ive not had any equipment.I wanna get back on track and learn turntablism and get my mixes back upto scratch (no pun intended)
Now i have £2600 to spend in april.Minus the £800 for the mackies so £1800.
What i would like is to be able to practice my djing, and have a fast computer for my productions.
Lets say i go for the mac option, would CLICK be fast enough to run ableton live? I would then go the for pc dj option and get a vestax midi controler CLICK
I would then of course be using this for all my production needs running logic.Im intersted in learning to scratch though, is this somthing im gonna be able to learn well on the vestax midi conroller? is latency going to be a problem?

The secound option would be to buy 2x cdj800s at £800, a ecler nuo 3 mixer at £350.A high spec tower pc to run cubase and fl studio.

Yes the Cdj option sounds nice, but everyone is doing it.I kinda see midi as the way foward as it opens up alot more doors and the next big thing?

I hope you can help, thanks

You aren't going to find a MIDI controller out there that you can scratch very well on. Secondly, you can't scrtach with Ableton. If the Vestax controller you're talking about is this one then it wouldn't really be suited to Ableton either, but would do the job with something like Traktor.

Personally, I would go for a Mac as they are known for their reliability (and this is coming from a PC user). The one you posted the link to could do with some more RAM, but you can get this cheap enough. As far as the DJing front goes, I've just sold my Technics and Serato to make the move to Ableton, so I'm probably not the best person to be giving you suggestions
