Vocal tracks vs Instrumentals and getting signed

Do you think record labels in general bias towards one or the other? Do you think a good vocal track will more likely get signed than an excellent instrumental?

Vocal track will generally always have a better chance of getting signed. Just remove the vocals, and viola, you have an instrumental.

Besides.. vocal tracks demands more production time and skills to make.. so definitely.

Well the big problems is that the 16 year old producer doesn't have a woman in their VST folder to throw up on a track.

As a listener, I used to like vocals, but now I like instrumentals the best. I like to hear spoken words though, and maybe a few vocal samples. I assume that vocal tracks, with original vocals, sell better. People, in general, tend to like complete songs, and that means vocals included. With pop and rock you don't find a lot of instrumentals. I would hope the EDM crowd would be different, since about 70% of it is purely instrumental.

i prefer the instrumentels but maybe simply because i produce music and apreciate the production that went into it that more than the vocal side of things but i know if i cud get a vocalist and a studio and lyrics id be thinkin wow this is cool, and wudnt hesitating on trying it out!

id like to think that you wud be signed on yur production talents and if you where that good you probably wud! but a good vocal over a average track will prob sell and thats the aim of most labels i think!
