It seems like trance music goes through vocalists who are like "fads". First it was Jan Johnston, around the late 90s and early 00s. Then around 2002 through 2004, it was Justine Suissa being the "it" girl of trance vocalists. Then Jes Brieden took over, well she was already pretty popular after "As The Rush Comes" and "Beautiful Things" and everyone wanted to use her voice. Then Carrie Skipper, around 2004 and 2005. Now it's Tiff Lacey. You don't hear these other ladies as much. So I bet by the end of this year, Tiff Lacey wont be as popular. Like I said, it's a fad that lasts two or three years and then you don't hear them as much. Kind of goes along with the popularity of the songs. |
None of those other vocalists ever really hit "overload" status though. I mean each of them really has only a handful of releases. Even Jan Johnston, who's been around since the early days can't match the over-output of Lacey, who, in a couple of years time, has been featured on like, 30+ tracks!!!
I miss Justine's warm voice. And I'm glad to hear Chakra's Kate Cameron back on Sound Fiction's "Alive".

I'm getting tired of most of the overused vocalists that keep getting recycled. That's why it's nice to hear new ones such and Jaren in Cerf and Mitiskas various vocal productions. Come on producers out there, find new talent!!! |
