BEN EVANS:
Ben Evans is Melbourne's friendly and popular face of trance. At just 22 years of age Ben has already established himself as prominent identity in the Melbourne club scene.
In an era when many DJs focus their set to cater for just one musical taste, Ben Evans manages to achieve an all too rare sonic balance. His sound is a fusion of tribal, progressive, techno and trance which can take those lucky enough to be present on a journey into the sublime. His skilful adaptability as a DJ sees Ben weave a rich, liquid blend of aural style and colour and whose reputation for doing just this through his Interview parties has led him to amass a passionate following and assure him a much deserved place in a multitude of other endeavours. Additionally, the crew at Frantic have also recognised the value of having Ben onboard so he’s in line to rock both a trance night of theirs called PLAY and a Sunday session to kick off at the White Bar called PUSH to cater for Ben’s more progressive edge. In conjuction with Electric Bliss, Ben has been a driving force behind such a series of warehouse parties known as Bassic, Neverland , To Thrill a Rocking Bird and a collection of rooftop parties known as A.I.R A fortnightly spot is also in the pipeline for www.mixsd.net to launch an Australian internet radio to program to showcase talent and news from the world of Interview. With a heavy focuss on the UK sound, Phat Camel Productions, (Phat &; Furious @ Ace Morning Bar) plus the guys with a new party brand 'Tweakin', launched this year, have enlisted Ben’s involvement as a major contributing factor into bringing more of this much needed sound back to the Melbourne scene. Ben’s continued collaborations with Melbourne producer, Blinky, will further mesh the sounds of Decks Vs Laptop to amalgamate a deep and dirty progressive techno sound. It’s a proven formula, having already triumphed at Bassic 06 and regularly at Bughauz and Interview. Lastly, 2006 saw Interview go very large indeed. As well as his hugely popular monthly events at Tilt, Ben had 700 people hit Brown Alley in Melbourne in September for a massive party featuring special guest Andy Moor (UK). It was more than enough to guarantee that Interview will host more future big room sessions every few months.

JULESPLEES:
For Jules Plees it all started in the mid 1990’s. As a young child developing his persona, Jules was gradually introduced into dance music after witnessing video clips from renowned artists like Utah Saints, The Shaman and Quench. By the young age of 10 Jules had become hooked on dance music, he knew it was his calling and over the ensuing years he attended regular underage dance parties to satisfy his craving. As time past Jules Plees fascination with Electronic Dance Music grew until in late 2001, after witnessing Christopher Lawrence and Carl Cox in action, he decided to buy his first pair of turntables. It was an important stage of Jules’ life as his vinyl collection began filling up with the Progressive Trance that Platypus were releasing at the time and slowly moved into a more Uplifting Trance style as he discovered songs from Nalin & Kane and Tilt, but also labels like Hooj Choons. Then in 2003 the moment finally came when Jules was offered his first gig, opening with Adam Holden in Room 680 at “5AM,” one of Melbourne’s most prolific Trance nights. But this was only the beginning for young Jules as he has since supported some of the biggest local and international talent including: DJ Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Marco V, John ‘00’ Flemming, Nick Warren and many more. For 18 months now, Jules has been persistently fine tuning his production skills partner in crime with Sasha Petrovic in his studio. The last few months have turned serious for Jules as his tracks with Sasha under their, “Round Trip” project have been receiving airtime on local stations Kiss FM and Club Play. With a studio comprised of a Mac, Logic, a midi synth and 2 KRK’s, it wont be long before you can expect to be purchasing your first “Round Trip” song. Jules’ open ear for all genres of high-quality music has recently seen his style diversify even further with the addition of Psy to his sound. Whether he’s playing Tough House, Melodic Prog, Uplifting Trance or a more Psy influenced set, Jules Plees’ trademark charisma behind the decks and interaction with his crowd is a notable part of this DJs repertoire. Currently evolving from CDs to Ableton, there’s a reason Jules Plees is fast becoming one of Melbourne’s most well loved DJs, sought after by promoters of various club nights.

6HEAD_SLUG:
From an early age I was introduced to the sounds of music. Sounds that could change your life, the way you think and what you feel. Sounds that could express emotions when words could not...
These would be the sounds and moments that would lead me to an un-tamed addiction.
"Music is my drug, and I wish to experience it, and express it in anyway I can..."
After many failed attempts at working within bands, electronic music seemed the only creative outlet which did not rely heavily on the input of others. It was at a music clearence sale back in May of 2000, when I sold my guitar and bought myself a Roland MC-303 (groove box.)
From there stemed a new obsession, and as time went on it would become more than a passing phase, but a new way of life completely.
The twisted sounds of the VIRUS crew introduced me to new sounds and untapped energy. A new way of viewing the world in which we all lived in. The free world as I knew it was no longer, and I was now painfully aware of this...
It was during this period I was introduced to such names as: Chris Liberator, D.A.V.E the drummer, Rowland the Bastard, Geezer etc... And I liked what I heard
After dabling with production, the next step was to learn to DJ, something that had always interested me. I like doing more than just playing the 'big tunes' when I get the chance to play out. I like to create sets that both are expressive, involving, and try and create a journey for the listener.
"To create soundscapes, and musical journeys... these are my goals. And ones I hope to share with as many people as possible."
***Soon to be seen and heard at Kryal!!!!
